Sherri Marquis is a retired U.S. Navy veteran and former War Department civil service Contracting Officer with more than thirty years of combined military and federal service. She holds top-level defense acquisition certifications and brings extensive expertise in procurement, compliance, contract law, fraud detection, and government oversight. Earlier in her career, she served as a Navy journalist specializing in investigative reporting and national security communication. She also worked across multiple legal disciplines and later served as a public-school teacher. Sherri holds a bachelor’s degree in legal studies and an MBA.

Since settling in Somers in 2017, she has served in continuous, unpaid volunteer roles supporting veterans and families. She is an accredited Veterans Service Officer, Municipal Veterans Representative, lifetime DAV member, certified hospice end-of-life doula, and CT Justice of the Peace who has officiated more than forty marriages. A past American Legion Post Executive Committee Officer and CT District Officer, she now also serves as Chairman of the Somers Veterans & Families Legacy Park Ad Hoc Committee, committed to building a memorial grounded in integrity, respect, and lasting community impact.
